I'm Robby Goetinck, an IT infrastructure engineer based in Belgium with a passion for open-source technology and well-designed systems. I founded RBGTK DevOps to bring enterprise-grade infrastructure thinking to organisations of all sizes — without the enterprise price tag or vendor lock-in.

My background spans on-premises virtualisation, container orchestration, network security, and end-to-end automation. I started my career at a managed service provider, growing from service desk to sysadmin within a year and taking ownership of client projects, migrations, and hypervisor deployments across a wide range of environments. From there I moved into academic research, working on enterprise blockchain systems and building a college research group's on-premise data centre from the ground up — designing, provisioning, and operating the infrastructure their work depended on.

I have a particular soft spot for NGOs and non-profits. Organisations doing meaningful work shouldn't have to choose between mission and infrastructure quality — and with the right open-source tooling and thoughtful architecture, they don't have to. I've served as technical lead for a non-profit deploying infrastructure for remote schools in Africa, and I bring that same commitment to every organisation doing work that matters.

I believe that good infrastructure should be invisible — it just works, scales when you need it to, and doesn't require heroics to maintain. My goal with every project is to leave you with a system you understand, documentation you can actually use, and the confidence to operate it independently.

When I'm not architecting infrastructure, you'll find me contributing to open-source projects, writing about DevOps topics on this blog, or experimenting with new tools in my homelab.

What I stand for

Open source first

I build on proven open-source foundations. No vendor lock-in, no black boxes — you own your stack.

Documentation matters

Every engagement ends with clear, actionable documentation. I want you to feel confident managing your own infrastructure.

Security by design

Zero trust, least privilege, and network segmentation aren't afterthoughts — they're baked in from the start.

Automate everything

If you're doing it twice, it should be automated. I help teams eliminate toil and focus on what actually matters.

Let's work together

I'm available for project-based engagements and ongoing advisory retainers.
